INTRODUCING THE PARKER SUB FUND – PROMOTING SOCIAL JUSTICE AND ADDRESSING RURAL DISADVANTAGE

Mar 16, 2021 | News

We are delighted to announce the establishment of our first Sub Fund, a way to donate to Highways and Byways and honor the memory of someone in your life.

Caitlin Coleman, a supporter of Highways and Byways, in partnership with her family, have established a Sub Fund with Highways and Byways in the name of their uncle, John Parker, who was a Christian Brother living and working for many years in rural Tasmania.

Breah, one of the participants in the I Am Project, run by the Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation along with Soroptimist International of Circular Head and Smithton High School. This was a wonderful program of building up young women’s self esteem and local community mentoring in an isolated region of Tasmania. Further projects such as this will be supported by the Parker Sub Fund each year.

We are keen to support projects which promote social justice and address rural disadvantage said Caitlin. It’s a great combination; our uncle’s legacy, H&B’s experience and capacity in grant-making, and the local community’s knowledge”.

Each year the Parker Sub Fund will contribute to a small grant in an area of rural Tasmania.  We thank the Coleman family for their generosity.

We welcome enquiries from anyone interested in establishing your own Sub Fund or supporting the Parker Sub Fund.  Contact Executive Officer Liz McAloon on 03 9873 5520 or email Liz here.
